15/01/2008 - 21:00

He mihi nui ki a koutou,
we would like to invite you to a WAITANGI DAY organising meeting.

:: Tuesday 15th January 2008, 7pm
:: 128 Abel Smith Street, Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington
:: Bring some kai

This invitation comes from a group of people that has been meeting every Tuesday night at the 128 Abel Smith community house since the nationwide raids and arrests on 15th October. The group was set up to support the prisoners, to bring the community together and to organise demonstrations against the raids. It's demands are (were):
* Release the prisoners
* Drop the charges
* Repeal the Terrorism Suppression Act 2002
* Justice for all those raided on October 15th (esp. Ngai Tuhoe)
* Support Te Manamotuhake o Tuhoe and Tino Rangatiratanga

The Tuesday night meetings at 128 will not take place over summer. Instead, many of us are going up to Waikaremoana (1st - 4th January, for information see www.tuhoe.net) and Parihaka (11th - 13th January, www.parihaka.com).

We would like to organise an action/protest/demonstration for WAITANGI DAY in Wellington. We've had a quick brain storm but have not made any decisions. There will be two further agenda items for the meeting on 15th January: updates and 5th March (the next court appearance in Auckland).
Please come along to this planning meeting and pass this email on to other people and groups. Thanks!

Ka kite ano
