Commemorate and celebrate: Events planned for October 15th
There are events being planned in Ruatoki, Auckland, Wellington and Melbourne to commemorate the October 15th 2007 raids and to celebrate our resistance.
- In Ruatoki, there are four days of events planned starting with a powhiri on 15 October. There will be a theatrical production, music, stalls, hui, exhibitions and korero.
- In Auckland
- Come down to Aotea Square from 5:30pm on Wednesday for some fun and games to contrast the trauma and oppression felt on this same day a year ago. Food Not Bombs will provide food and hot drink, there will be music, and there will be mega twister! Bring your friends, family, blankets to picnic on, and all your usual banners and things if you like.
- Solidarity Picket on Friday 17 October, the day of committal of the defendants to trial in Auckland
- In Wellington
- The Freedom Shop Garage Sale to support the defendants. On Saturday, 11 October 2008, 11am - 4pm at Oblong/Freedom Shop 204B Left Bank, Cuba Mall.
- The Wellington Indymedia Collective presents: "Tuhoe - A history of resistance" on 17th October, 7pm at the Film Archive. Tickets are $8 waged/$6 unwaged.
- Community potluck dinner, stories of the events from last year and our resistance. Tuesday evening 21 October, 7pm at 128 Community House, 128 Abel Smith Street
- PROTEST in Melbourne at the New Zealand Embassy, Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 1:00pm - 2:00pm at 350 Collins Street Melbourne, Australia
