New resources availableThis week, the October 15th Solidarity crew in Poneke (Wellington) has published two new items to use on the streets. Volume 3 of the newsletter detailing the non-association situation for the 20 people accused is outlined along with other stories, events and analysis. There is also a new A6 size leaflet for getting the word out about our demands and mobilising people for the international day of action on Saturday, 30 August 2008. Both publications are available on the 'resources' page.

Court report from Tauranga Pre-depositions hearing29/05/08 - One of the arrestees in the state terror raids on Te Urewera has had his depositions hearing set down for 20 November 2008 in the District Court Tauranga when briefs of evidence will be handed up. One charge against Raunatiri Hunt was withdrawn by the Crown. Hunt is one of the 20 people jointly charged with attending so-called ‘paramilitary-style training camps’ in Te Urewera.
Non-association order varied by consent in the High Court WellingtonCo-accused Valerie Morse and Emily Bailey have had their non-association order varied by consent of the Crown in the High Court in Wellington on Tuesday, 27 May. It allows limited association including once monthly 128 community house meetings and at the Oblong Internet cafe. An earlier order allows them to live together at Tira Hou Marae during the depositions hearings set down for the entire month of September.
October 15th Solidarity - State Terror court updateThe court case against 20 people facing charges under the Arms Act continues. A one-day call-over court hearing was held in the Auckland in the District Court on 19th May. Most of the defendants were excused. However, several went to court and supporters from Auckland and Ruatoki were there too. The following day, two defendants had a hearing in the Wellington High Court to challenge their non-association order. A dozen friends and supporters were there. The hearing was not resolved and a further hearing will take place within the next few days.

"...al Qaeda had arrived" - Tim Pankhurst and Fairfax New Zealand in courtFive days have been put aside in September for the solicitor-general's case against Dominion Post editor Tim Pankhurst and Fairfax New Zealand (part of the Murdoch empire and the owner of the Wellington Dominion Post, The Christchurch Press and several other newspapers, as well as TV3). The solicitor-general, David Collins is taking contempt proceedings against them for publishing 'Operation 8' conversations secretly recorded by police over their two year investigation. The court hearing start on 15th September 2008 in Wellington.
